The Glaciers are Melting.
A Decade ago I was a career man with the one thought on my mind – how to go up the corporate ladder and increase my income.
Being in banking and investments for the first few years of my career, life seemed simple and money was the tool for true happiness and the basis of my existence.
Life started showing me reality when markets trended in the negative direction, causing losses of hard earned money for investors who trusted judgments of us (so called) investment experts in the year 2008.
Made me rethink the purpose of my life and purpose of my very existence.
Whilst the world – at least the privileged few of us who live in the peace and harmony of our safe and affluent environments were enjoying advancements in technology, faster cars with bigger more powerful engines and the mind being diverted by fancy gadgets and new toys, the real world out there kept deteriorating at an unprecedented pace so scary it can take your breath away.
The reality is the climate is changing at a pace that was never expected to in the last 50- 100 years that it never did in the last 6000 years put together. The Glaciers are melting not because of a natural course of action but because of the deeds of us humans as a whole.
The technical aspect of it is the Carbon Dioxide level in the last 400,000 years has been below 300 parts per million and it had been so until the 1950’s however from 1950 to 2019 we are 400 parts per million, 95% of this climate change is attributed as a result of human activity.

The reality is the climate is changing at a pace that was never expected to in the last 50- 100 years that it never did in the last 6000 years put together.
The global warming
The global warming, climate change, glaciers melting are all directly a result of human activity, human expansion (greenhouse gases).
Green house gases comprise of mainly
- Water Vapor (H2O) Water Vapor increases as earths atmosphere warms
- Nitrous Oxide (N20) – One of the most powerful greenhouse gas caused by soil cultivation practice by using commercial fertilizers, fossil fuel combustion, biomass burning and production of Nitric Acid.
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2) – Is a small but extremely important component of the atmosphere – can be released by natural phenomena such as volcanic eruptions and also Human Activity such as Deforestation, burning fossil fuels (petrol and all natural Oil and Gas products and byproducts), and changing the land usage. Since the Industrial revolution Humans have increased the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere by more than one third thereby forcing the climate to change.
- Methane (CH4) – It can be caused by natural process and human activity such as decomposition of waste in landfills, manure management with domestic livestock, methane is a far more active Greenhouse Gas on a molecule-for-molecule level than carbon dioxide.
- Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) – Also a greenhouse gas which is100% industrial origin have a strong ability to destroy the ozone layer, Now largely regulated by international agreements.
So the reason behind me bringing out this basic but important information on the above green house gases was to explain the direct effect on our environment and our worlds misuse of the natural resources caused by our advancement and industrial growth.
Sunlight warms the earth surface and a good amount of that heat reflects back towards space – However due to the increase in the greenhouse gases, water vapor including all the above gases act as a newly formed thermal blanket absorbing heat/ trapping the heat and further warming the surface and increasing the heat in the lower atmosphere causing a chain reaction to all living beings and the entire Earth.
One man alone cannot fight this war but one can contribute in many ways by the minor steps in reducing his footprint and what I do in my humble capacity to find ways for the common man to do it.
Today my very purpose is to share my knowledge to organizations and individuals on how to reduce your footprint in the smallest ways – be it saving water by simple water saving technology or generating water from the air or Saving electrical energy for lighting, air conditioning, machinery, refrigeration and water heating.
I believe its never too late for us to put a small step together and change what we unknowingly caused and reverse the effects of this climate change and give the chance for our future generations to enjoy our dear planet in the way we did once upon a time.
